Eicosanoids such as thromboxanes are autocrine or paracrine factors that are released from arachidonic acid. Thromboxanes is released by the platelets and helps in fueling the formation of blood clots inside the vascular system. The substances is highly implicated in asthma, but its primary role is seen during inflammation and tissue injury helping reduce blood loss.
