This purpose will highlight the different NPOs’ and CBOs’ impact on the communities in which they operate. The paper will take a view that includes an analysis of the relationship between the two aspects; how the community influences the nonprofits and vice versa. To better assess the effectiveness of NPOs and CBOs on society, this study will pay attention to three metrics; community needs alignment, sustainability and long-term impact, and inclusion and cultural sensitivity. The study emphasizes the aspect of collaboration and partnerships with volunteers and donors as one way to improve nonprofits’ sustainability. To provide a foundation for future related studies, the literature review will discuss the evolution of nonprofits, emphasizing on the factors that contributed to the emergency of CBOs and NPOs, and how these organizations have changed their focus over the years in response to social and economic dynamicity. A review of the internal and external challenges, such as resource constraints, the study will offer insights on the potential recommendations to strengthen their impact in the context of community development.
