Write a Research Paper on an Intercultural Issue or Concept.Select an ethno-cultural theme. (e.g., racism; ethnocentrism; worldview; culture bias; the role of language in culture; valuing the stranger; culture; non-verbal communication; etc.
Research the concept paying particular attention to the following areas:

(a) Its theoretical mooring (what do scholars say about it);
(b) Its theological significance (what do theologians, biblical scholars and the Bible have to say about the topic);
(c) Its biblical expression or application (how was your concept used or abused in Scripture)
(d) Its implications for intercultural engagement in the church;
(e) Its practical implications for you and me as we engage with each other.
(g) If appropriate, suggest a game, simulation or some type of activity that would help explain the concept you researched.
Length and Format: The research paper should be a three-thousand five-hundred-word paer (3,500 “good words;” maximum 4,000); (Times New Roman, Arial or Garamond 12-point font; standard margins, headers and footers, page numbers on the bottom of the page and title page). “Good words” refer to words that reflect the criteria in the “Paper Evaluation” text box above.
The research paper is to be written according to either the American Psychological Association (APA) standard (https://apastyle.apa.org/) or the Chicago Standard Format https://www.scribbr.com/chicago-style/format-paper/). Pick a format and stick with it.

Generate an Annotated Bibliography – Part two of this research project requires you to generate an annotated bibliography with a minimum of 10 references (sources).

Develop your annotated bibliography in accordance with the standard format for
annotated bibliographies. (Example:
https://twp.duke.edu/sites/twp.duke.edu/files/file-attachments/annotated- bibliography-1.original.pdf ) An annotated bibliography is simply “an analytic guide to academic resources on a research topic. For each resource (book, article, documentary, etc.), it includes a citation and a brief (2-4 sentence) description and evaluation, or annotation. The annotation is intended to assess the relevance and quality of each resource.”
Include your annotated bibliography in your paper where you would normally include your bibliography. Note: Your annotated bibliography does NOT count toward your research paper’s word-count.

1. Introduction
A lack of knowledge about other cultures is a sign of cultural ignorance. Being unaware of our cultural values, practices, and assumptions and assuming that our cultural norms are superior to other cultures, is also cultural ignorance. In this paper, I shall research promoting cultural awareness and understanding in Canada and outline strategies to combat cultural ignorance and foster a diverse society.
2. Statistics of Cultural Diversity in Canada
I shall be examining data on the ethnocultural and religious diversity of Canada against the backdrop of ethnic clustering.
3. Who are Canadians? Unraveling Misconceptions
Setting our understanding of who are Canadians. To know a diverse community consisting of a mosaic of many ethnic origins.
4. What is Cultural Ignorance
Analyzing the meaning of cultural ignorance: choosing to know and deliberately staying in the dark, otherwise known as deliberate ignorance.
5. The Danger of Hedging-in and Ethnic Exclusivity in Canada: The Main Cause of Cultural Ignorance.
An analysis of the danger of the culture of ethnic clustering and deliberately living in small ethno-religious worlds that are deemed to be self-contained and have no need to cross their boundaries to mix with cultures that are different from their own. The best-case scenario is the Kenyan post-election violence of 2007. Tribes living in their exclusive estates e.g. in Kenya, the Luos come from Kisumu town but in the capital city, they have a small Kisumu which is referred to in Swahili as Kisumu ndogo. In Mombasa town, we also have Kisumu ndogo. Here in Canada, we have India ndogo, Pakistan ndogo, Nigeria ndogo as examples. This makes communities live in their cocoons which they consider safe. These cocoons create monocultural groups who choose not to know of other cultures in Canada. This is deliberate ignorance. Cocoon mentality limits the use of unifying language among the communities in Canada. When communities feel no need for other communities, they stick to their language and culture as the best there is.
6. Enhancing the Canadian Policy of Multiculturalism of 1971- Examining the Strides and How to Make it Work.
Are newcomers in Canada being helped to integrate into and assimilate into the Canadian culture? Are policymakers reading from the same script for a uniform result in creating a homogenous Canadian culture that is easy to understand?
7. Combating Integration Obstacles
Examining workplace discrimination, undertones of racial and religious discrimination.

8. Grassroots strategies that will Enhance Cultural Awareness in Canada
Bringing the policy to the grassroots will improve cultural integration and awareness among the many ethnic groups in Canada.
9. Conclusion
When different ethnic groups strive to embrace and respect other cultures while keeping their own, and moving out of their group comfort zones, multiculturalism in Canada will have a better and more beautiful meaning.
